Named after the massive redwood tree, Palo Alto is Spanish for “tall stick”. For many years techies have been enjoying the benefits of coliving spaces in Palo Alto while they work on their next big idea for Silicon Valley. Like most of California, Palo Alto is very car-centric but offers a great bus system along with some free shuttles to the Stanford University campus and other attractions. If you’re downtown this area is very walkable. The city is very flat and offers many “bike boulevards” to cycle along.
