Over Isla - The Island Experience

A lovely, switch-off stay. Bamboo glamping huts, hammocks under the trees, a quiet island beach, and working from a hammock by the sea was a dream. The one real letdown was the food, which didn't quite match the magical setting.

A fantastic experience if you want to go back to your basic roots and live off the grid

Fantastic experience for our one-night stay; would highly recommend for anyone keen to experience a piece of island life in the Philippines.

We had a wonderful stay here. The huts are very simple, but that's exactly what you come for! All of the people there are super friendly and helpful. Special thanks/greetings to the staff :) After having a cozy bonfire in the evening, you wake up with a view into paradise. We also met the super cute puppies there (we named them Cini and Mini 😅). We really hope someone takes care of them and they have a happy and healthy life. The food in the restaurant is also pretty simple and a little pricey, but they have to bring everything to the island. We hope the team keeps this place as beautiful as it is ❤️

We spent 2 nights with the host. The rooms and the views from the rooms are actually unbeatable. Two nights were perfect for us. Free snorkels and fins are offered, which is great for exploring the shipwreck and looking at fish in some of the clearest waters we have ever seen. Breakfast is also included with the room and we loved the first morning breakfast, the second was just okay. The pancakes can’t be beaten. A family style buffet dinner is available for P520, which again was great on the first night but the second night was just okay. There were less than half the people on our second day than on the first, so we think that is why. Still, all meals were filling and good value. We were welcomed with drinks and shell necklaces, which was lovely. A free cooking class is also run every afternoon and, while we didn’t attend, the non-alcoholic drinks available were great - the host really knows how to make a non-alcoholic drink very, very well. The island was a little dirty when we arrived; a few beer bottles were left out on the floor and cigarette butts were occasionally spotted in the sand. We do wish a little more sunbeds were provided also, and a little more spread as they are all in one area. Showers had good pressure, especially for a remote island, and the toilets were in good condition throughout our visit. Staff were so lovely and helpful throughout. Overall, we loved our stay and would recommend.

I stayed 4D 3N with the host
Here’s my point by point review of the property:
The Tuka (Beak in Filipino, the Hut’s roof is shaped like a bird’s beak) mine was named [hut name], spacious and airy, bed comfy, and a mosquito net is provided to protect me from insects. There’s a plug point to charge my phone, cameras etc. Shelves to store my clothes. Towels provided but no toiletries, I always bring my own so no problem 😉 and an electric fan
Sharing Bathroom and Toilets
They are cleaned and well maintained, hand soaps are provided, water pressure is weak
Food and Drinks
Food menu is decent, breakfast is included in my room rate, basic but I think they serve the fluffiest pancakes I ever had in the region
They serve cold drinks and cocktails and beer
The menu is a mix of Filipino and western cuisine either a la carte or buffet depending on the number of in-house guests. Free unlimited coffee and tea and drinking water
The Staff
They are accommodating, welcoming and eager to please, special shout out to the staff. As a solo traveler, I have never laughed so hard and felt less alone with their company
Here are some points to consider before booking:
It’s an island and quite isolated, so some items in the menu may not be available.
I spent the whole duration of my trip walking barefoot, so if you don’t like going barefoot bring flip flops — easier to shake off the sand compared to crocs
They have cashless transactions, scan QR code to pay, no ATMs available, bring extra cash for emergencies or other purchases
The property is solar powered which in my opinion is better than gas/diesel generators which can be noisy especially at night

I have previous island experience, like a Robinson Crusoe experience. The amenities they provide are basic but decent compared to what I have experienced before and I love the Tuka, you sleep under a blanket of stars, gentle sea breeze flows in, occasionally you will hear the fishermen’s boats passing by, don’t miss the wreck, easy swim 15 minute or less from the shore. They do provide activities such as cooking class and bonfire in the evening
It’s an island not to be missed if ever you get fed up from the nearby town’s crowds.

Our day started with a nightmare: a 1.5‑hour delay with another transport company from a city to the island, which caused us to miss the designated meeting point for our shared transfer to the pier. We were stressed, had no reception, and genuinely thought we might lose the booking. That all changed the moment the host's team stepped in. Their customer service was incredibly responsive, and they even sent their driver to the bus terminal to find us, call out our names, and personally drive us to the pier. That small act of kindness completely turned our day around and already set the host apart from any other experience we’ve had in the Philippines. When we arrived on the island, the crew greeted us with welcome drinks and a warm introduction to the property and our stay. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and genuine. What really impressed us was how the staff remembered our names and greeted us every time we walked by, making us feel like valued guests rather than just another booking. It’s a simple gesture, but it added so much to the overall experience. If you’re looking for an authentic, experience‑focused island escape rather than a standard resort, this is the place. Just be prepared that it’s more rustic and eco‑style: there is no air conditioning, only an electric fan and a mosquito net at night, which we personally found part of the charm and adventure. I had a wonderful time with the host and truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone who values great hospitality, warmth, and a unique island getaway.

Well-curated native huts with ocean view

1. Friendly, enthusiastic staff
2. Offers many free activities: snorkeling, bonfires, cooking classes, beach volleyball
3. Beautiful, clean beach with many hammocks and sun loungers
4. The stilt house provides fans; there is no hairdryer, so bring your own
5. Only cold shower water, mainly for rinsing after water activities, so body wash and shampoo are not provided
6. Food on the island is a bit pricey ($400-500), but tastes good. Recommended: sisig, pork BBQ
