This is a cheerful, creative, and inspiring house over 100 years old. Despite renovations for practicality and comfort, the house retains its unique beauty. The entire property boasts spacious areas with windows and balconies, allowing natural light to flood in from all directions. They describe it as having a "very good vibe."

The entrance is through the old animal stables, which we have arranged and painted colorfully, and the whole floor has underfloor heating, so in winter you can go barefoot and feel the warmth on your feet!

Here are the spaces within the house:

COMMON SPACES:

- Library with more than 700 works of all genres.
- Office.

Community

Welcome to a haven for writers and readers alike—a space designed to inspire creativity and foster connections among like-minded individuals.

This home is a sanctuary for digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and professionals working in the literary arts: novelists, short story writers, journalists, screenwriters, translators, editors, playwrights, copywriters, poets, linguists, and beyond.

We warmly welcome respectful and calm individuals of all ages, genders, and orientations—those who cherish nature, a quiet lifestyle, art, and the culture of well-being.

Our library is the heart of the house, featuring an extensive collection of literary works by celebrated authors from various eras, alongside contemporary voices. It’s a place to delve into inspiration, whether for pleasure or to spark your next great project.

To nurture a sense of community, we host regular gatherings where authors present their works, encouraging thoughtful discussion and exchange of ideas.

Beyond the written word, we organize enriching experiences:

- Scenic hikes along nearby trails, offering a fresh perspective and connection with nature.
- Dining at the Hermitage, a local gem that combines history and gastronomy.

- Sunday gatherings featuring appetizers and wine tastings at a breathtaking nearby viewpoint.

Over the years, numerous writers have graced this space, completing remarkable works while enjoying the serene environment. Their satisfaction, along with that of our guests, speaks to the magic of this unique place.

Here, creativity thrives, ideas flourish, and community is built. Come and be part of this extraordinary journey.

About Matarraña

Belmonte de San José is one of the few beautiful places in the inland Mediterranean without tourists. Here you can still enjoy fabulous landscapes without queuing up: in peace and solitude. The village, with only 90 residents, is part of the so-called "empty Spain" due to its location in an unpopulated rural area, making it an ideal destination for those who appreciate nature and tranquility.

Olive and almond trees, pine trees, fig trees, walnut trees, oak trees, foxes, roe deer, squirrels, birds of prey, and wild boar populate the valley surrounding the village. The scenery is reminiscent of the Mallorcan landscape, yet it is secluded, with the beaches of Castellón (and its inhabitants) located an hour and a half's drive away from our town. But near it we have wonderful rivers and natural pools, where you can bathe quietly and in the middle of nature.

In the neighboring region of Matarraña, you will find very nice towns (Calaceite, Cretas, Valderrobres...) to visit with a lively and very interesting cultural background.

Zaragoza is an hour and a half away from the village, and you can reach Barcelona in 3 hours and a half. In the neighboring Alcañiz, a small town 25 minutes away from Belmonte, you will find public transportation.

Other Spaces Available for Our Guests:

La Ermita de San José

The old hermit's house has 2 rooms where you can work alone or in a group and spectacular 360º views of the 3 valleys that surround it.

The forest of the Ermita de San José is a magnificent place with tables and stone benches, where you can meet to eat, read, play, and talk among pine trees and landscapes.
