Bjørkedal is a village with Unesco-listed boatbuilder traditions. We have protected forests, red-listed plants, miles and miles of forest paths, and majestic mountains for hiking and climbing. If you are a nature lover, you will have a mecca for exploring. You will also be fine just enjoying the old farmhouse, the garden, the lake and the quiet yet vibrant life. The coworking and lounge have 400 years old timber walls. The private rooms are all equipped with comfortable beds. All rooms have their own worktable with ergonomic chairs and external screens.

Anne has practiced as a shaman and shaman teacher for thirty years.
The art of storytelling and the building of societies spring out of this work, but we are not a fixed belief system or a spiritual movement.
The biological need to belong and the responsibility to build healthy clans and healthy tribes in today's world are rooted in an underlying curiosity.

About Bjørkedalsvatnet
We have kayaks, a wood-fired bathtub, a mountain dairy house and lots of space in and around the house. You will really enjoy Bjørkedal if you are a person that needs space but still know that we humans are social beings. Village life has another tempo; adjusting to it will open up loads of creativity, cooperation, efficiency, and inspiration.
The boat-building traditions of Bjørkedal are well-known beyond the borders of Norway. Here, multiple replicas of Viking ships were created. Recently, the Bjørkedal boat builders constructed the world's longest tall ship, which is now on exhibit in Nordfjordeid. Nordfjordeid is a 15-minute drive from Bjørkedal. Twice a week, we go together in our 7-seat car for shopping, cafes, etc.
Bjørkedal is ideal for day trips to the West Cape, Måløy, Grotlesanden, Runde and Ålesund, Geiranger, and the Sunnmøre Alps. The aim of opening up the house for colivers is not only to create a society inside the society but that we can make an impact in Bjørkedal. Cooperation between borders is needed. We want you to make a difference in Bjørkedal. Instead of just exploring the village, you are welcome to inspire us, make a difference, share a smile, and chat about life, the weather, or whatever interests you.

Yes, we have a room on the first floor where you can live with your pet. Therefore, if you have any allergies, be sure to check beforehand.
We have so much space both outdoors and in the house that it is just an added bonus to have animals here. But also ask before if you want to bring your pet, as we do not allow all. They have to be very well behaved and clean, and it also depends if we already have pets here.

Absolutely! While the communal areas are maintained by everyone daily, our team also conducts a thorough cleaning of the shared spaces once every fortnight to ensure a welcoming and tidy environment for all residents.
We have a variety of shared spaces for everyone to enjoy! You can cook together in our spacious kitchen, relax in the communal areas, or unwind on the balconies and terraces. Our beautiful garden is perfect for socializing, and the boathouse offers a unique experience. Don’t forget the yoga platform with a fireplace for those peaceful moments, along with clean and comfortable toilets and showers.
We love hosting groups and retreats. This happens only in low season between november and march. It's a wonderful opportunity for like-minded individuals to connect and share experiences. Our space is perfect for collaboration and relaxation! And when we open the community house in Bjørkedal there will be openings for this all year.
During your stay, you might have the house all to yourself in the low season! Generally, we accommodate between six to ten people for about six months of the year, creating a vibrant community atmosphere.
Yes, Anne and Jozsef, the owners, are also community managers and live nearby. We do our best to be of assistance and visit almost daily to ensure everything runs smoothly and to connect with our residents.
We really are proud to say that we have had residents from all continents an so many countries, from China to New Zealand, Marocco and far East as well as UK, US and most other European countries.
The average length of stay in our community is around two months. This gives our residents enough time to settle in, make connections, and enjoy what we have to offer!
