Coliving in the Yakushima Residence

All residents have a bedroom within the home for more privacy.
Residents are to share the furnished common areas respectfully.

Although we love all pets, we might have members with potential allergies, so, unfortunately, we can’t allow people to bring pets with them. We want to make sure everyone can be happy in their communal home.

We allow couples and friends to stay in Twin rooms. It is also possible to rent two Single rooms.

You can work wherever you like—whether in the lounge, a remote work booth, or on the balcony, or even sitting in an outdoor chair beneath the trees.

You'll share with Co-Owners, artists participating in our residency program, travelers, and others. Local friends also sometimes come to co-work.

The room you will be assigned might differ slightly from the photos but will match the room type. You are booking a room/bed by type, not a specific unit.

You don´t need to tour the property, and here is why:
- Properties on Coliving.com have pictures and a clear description of the community, rooms, and common areas. Most of them also have 3D or video tours.
- Restricting viewings provide equal opportunities for everyone, whether you are a local or live abroad. Plus, it preserves the privacy of our coliving communities.
- If anything is unclear, you can easily reach out to the property by clicking "Contact host" and ask for more details. Make sure your questions are not already covered in the description or the FAQ section.
- Coliving.com makes sure the coliving property is as advertised, by only sending any money to the operator 24h after you have successfully moved in.
- If the property substantially differ from what is advertiser, you report it to us and we will help you find another place.

Once you’ve been accepted and confirmed your ideal moving-in date, the host will be there to welcome you to your new home. They will help you settle in your room, show you around the space, and introduce you to the other community members. Once we’ve answered your questions, you will be given time to get settled and make yourself at home.

If the accommodation is not suitable, please contact the staff on arrival and they will do their best to find a mutually agreeable solution.

You can cancel free of charge before you pay. After payment, the listing's cancellation policy applies.

You may book a shorter stay first and then extend once you know more about your needs subject to availability.

We’re happy to have visitors — please check with us in advance so we can make sure it’s okay for everyone. Visitors are welcome until 10:00 pm; overnight guests require prior approval.

It’s your home, so feel free to enjoy a drink whenever you wish, so long as you are respectful of your housemates.

We don’t charge any mandatory additional fees. Some options are available for an extra fee — for example, use of the washing machine, items from our café and bar, towel rentals for the hot springs, and shared staples like rice and pasta.

After check-in, we provide cleaning supplies so you can clean your room yourself. If you prefer to have our cleaning team do it, room cleaning including a change of bed linen is available for an extra fee.

Our on-site laundry room is available for everyone’s use. You’ll find three washing and drying machines. There is an outdoor drying area, as well as a retractable laundry line in your room.

All bedrooms can be locked. For security reasons, the main entrance is also locked at night, but we will provide you with a key for it.

Yes — we take security seriously. Cameras monitor the building entrances to help detect unauthorized access, and the main entrance is locked at night.
