Ponta Delgada is located on Sao Miguel island, the largest and most populous island in the autonomous region of The Azores, which is a part of Portugal. Resting among these beautiful islands is great for coliving remote workers from around the world. These little islands sit 930 miles off the coast of Portugal in the Atlantic Ocean. This little town is perfect for a digital nomad looking for a quiet place to call home, as there are only 70,000 inhabitants here. While living here you’ll be able to experience the incredible scenery and climate.
Ponta Delgada sees relaxing and cool temperatures throughout the year, with the yearly average of 55ºF to 73ºF. The location makes this a great island for its stunning scenery, especially when you get outside of the town itself. The island has never been a major tourist destination but does see a decent amount of visitors throughout the year. This gives you the opportunity to live fully remotely and embrace the local culture, all while possibly learning a new language. The cost of living here is actually slightly cheaper than living in the mainland, but goods are slightly more expensive. This is all because anything that can’t be produced on the island must be imported from Europe.
Getting around Ponta Delgada and the island is relatively easy. You can either rent a car for the long term or use their public bus service, which is cheap. The bus service is great for getting not just around the city but around the island too. The primary airport on the island is Joao Paulo International Airport. Here you will find flights connecting you to mainland Portugal and as far away as the United States and Canada.
