Surrounded by beautiful islands, Helsinki is situated on a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland. It pairs great sea views, with an abundance of green, urban and open spaces. The place does beat to the sound of its drum, and we love it for that reason. Its transport system is one of the best of its kind. The Metro and biking infrastructure make exploring the capital easy and practically a walk in the park.

Some must-see visits include the architecturally impressive Oodi Helsinki Central Library, you can’t miss it and the Amos Rex Museum. Afterward make sure to visit Helsinki’s trendiest district, Kallio, which is a hub of nightlife, full of fantastic places to eat and drink on your free evenings. For the more adventurous digital nomad, you can take the 10-minute boat ride to the island of Lonna for some stunning sunset views of the city. And a bit further out in northern Helsinki is the historic district of Käpylä, you can view the red wooden houses which pop in color. The Finnish Nature Centre, Haltia, is worth the few extra miles to get to it also. A modern exhibition, showcasing the splendor of Finnish nature – from Lapland to the southern archipelagos, this is where Finland shows its colors.

Overall Helsinki is a spacious place to Colive in, and in winter you might just be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. However, the weather can be harsh from the late autumn through till the middle of spring. To combat this, you always have the Sauna culture to keep you warm.
