Langkawi is known as the Jewel of Keda, an archipelago of islands in the Andaman Sea. Some islands are more significant than others, but they are all beautiful. As tourism booms in Langkawi, coliving becomes more and more popular. The city is serene and slow-moving, unlike the rest of Malaysia’s cities, so it is perfect for those seeking a more tranquil coliving experience.

Once an economy relying on rubber cultivation and fisheries, the city has become a tourist hub and has created a tourism-driven economy. Surrounded by white beaches, tranquil waters, and picturesque sunsets, it is no wonder it has become such a popular tourist destination.

In the main town of Kuah, you will find Eagle Square with its giant and majestic statue of an eagle about to take flight. Almost 40 feet tall, the eagle rests on a star-shaped platform over the water. It is said that Langkawi means “red and brown eagle”. The eagle statue is a remarkable photo opportunity and is close to many other sights that Kuah offers.

Langkawi is infused with history and culture that can be experienced at many points throughout the island. A well-known museum is the Mahsuri Tomb and Museum. Mashuri was a stunningly beautiful woman who was sentenced to death when the town erupted with jealousy. It's believed that after this act of violence, Langkawi was cursed for seven generations.

Displaying its more modern side, the Art in Paradise 3D Museum is an experience with over 200 three-dimensional works of art. It is the biggest 3D art museum in Malaysia. The museum is a real treat for the senses; it is divided into nine different zones, including castles, safari, and even Egypt. It is almost impossible to decide on your favorite.

For more traditional entertainment, The Oriental Village is the perfect place to be, as it offers models of local architecture and traditional performances as an Asian-themed park and village. Performances include musical performers, martial arts, and you could even learn to fly a traditional kite. A popular way to maneuver through the village is on a Segway, and don't forget to have your palm read before going on your way. You could discover some luck you didn't know you had.

Being surrounded by water, naturally, water activities are popular. Many spots offer water snorkeling and cruises. Pantai Cenang is the most popular beach laced with hotels, bars, and restaurants. It's not hard to find a good drink, a tasty meal, and a show.

An absolute must, if you are feeling adventurous, is the Langkawi Sky Bridge. The view is spectacular, and you can see the neighboring islands and even the famous Seven Pools Waterfalls. To get to the Sky Bridge, you have to take the cable car and then the Sky Glide lift, which is not for the faint-hearted.

Although there is no public transport, it is to get around, taxis and companies like Uber are widely used. Car and motorcycle rental is also popular.
