It's hard to imagine a winter wonderland in a city famous for its beer in Japan but that's precisely what Sapporo, the capital of the Hokkaido Prefecture, is. With the digital nomad trend on the rise, popular tourist spots like Sapporo have a flourishing coliving community.

With chilly snowing winters and warm, beautiful summers, the city offers it all. The Sapporo Snow Festival in February is an annual favorite and attracts about two million tourists. People flock to view the magnificent ice sculpture on display. They showcase some of the best ice sculptures in the world. Visiting at night is the best time to come, as colored lights radiate through the ice sculptures, almost shadowing the Northern Lights.

Sapporo certainly uses its mountainous terrain to its advantage, with many well-known ski resorts just outside of town. If you are looking for a little height in the summer, they say the view from the top of Moiwayama mountain is impressive. Whether you prefer to climb it or take a cable car up, it is undoubtedly worth visiting. At night you can see all of the city lights.

Sapporo is bursting with both traditional and modern elements. The clock tower is an iconic building, and people can not help but want to take their picture in front of one of Sapporo's most famous buildings. Kaitaku-mura is a neighborhood known for its historical architecture. It allows guests to view not only the inside of the historic building but also the outside too, talk about time travel.

Hokkaido is practically a hub for dairy and delicious fruits and vegetables, so you can expect to eat like royalty. With a famous dairy industry, there is plenty of ice cream to taste and not just for the kids. Milk Mura serves ice cream in a mug with some of your favorite liquors! Ishiya chocolate is nothing short of mystical. They offer tours filled with history and how the chocolate is made. After the tour, perhaps try a robot show or a cake buffet.

The city is also well known for seafood markets like Nijo Ichiba, with the freshest seafood centering around some of the best sushi in town. Sapporo is well known for its ramen, so if you enjoy noodles, this is the place to be. With a famous beer brewery that offers tours, tastings and even has a beer garden, Sapporo is a hit with many visitors.

Although not all the locals speak English, the city is extremely safe and comfortable to get around. The city, however popular, is genuinely not overcrowded. The Internet is phenomenal; making this is a perfect destination in Japan to try coliving.
