Birgu, better known at The Victorious City, is an old fortified city in the South Eastern region of Malta. Surrounded by beautiful water and tall honey-colored stone buildings, the town is peaceful, and those heading to Birgu with coliving in mind can enjoy the less crowded streets.

Birgu was the island's first capital and is filled with proud history oozing through the architecture, churches, and museums. With origins dating back to medieval times, it's easy to see that Greeks, Romans, and Arabs influenced the expansion of Birgu.

One of Birgu's most famous sights is Fort St Angelo. It was built very strategically on the peninsula, the seat of Grand Master, and provided a military function during the Knights' period and beyond.

The historic Vittoriosa Waterfront that was once home the former Palace of the General of the Galleys and the Order of St John's treasury has been restored. It now houses a casino and the famous Malta Maritime Museum.

Although many swims in the harbor, if you are up for a little adventure, then St. Peter's Pool is just a short water taxi ride away from the pier to Marsaxlokk village. Rinella at Kalkara is also great at a small sandy beach great for swimming, relaxing, and sunbathing.
