The beautiful and ancient city of Tainan is the oldest city in the whole of Taiwan, making it a great coliving destination for digital nomads. Oftentimes referred to as the “Capital City” because of how long it’s existed. If you enjoy authentic culture and rich in history destinations this may be a great place for you to call your hub or home base if you’re starting out as a remote worker. Tainan rests along the coast of Taiwan which puts you in close proximity to white-sand beaches. Due to the city’s cultural heritage, this makes it a popular tourist destination as well so you're sure to encounter and meet plenty of other ex-pats as well.

The city itself is home to nearly two million people, so it’s not the largest city in the country but still a metropolis. There are plenty of five-star shopping malls and restaurants to choose from, but don’t let this fool you, as you can find incredible street food and night markets here that may even be better than many high-end restaurants.

The city is quite large, and there is definitely a need for public transportation to get around. Currently, the metro for the city is closed due to major renovations that have been happening over the last few years and delayed due to budget problems. Most of the traffic is from cars and motorbikes as well. The Taiwan railway system runs through the city that can take you around the entire country. Tainan is also home to a small airport roughly six kilometers away from town. Even with only a few destinations, you’ll be able to get to a major international gateway rather quickly with one-stop.
