Cuba’s capital, Havana, has been getting more and more popular with remote workers, who could often be seen working from hotel lobbies, which usually offer internet cards; today, however, dedicated coworking and coliving spaces are also available.
Many hotels and business centers also offer computers and work stations but overall the internet is still slow in Cuba and so it might be better suited for those remote workers who don’t need to upload large amounts of data. Vedado and Centro Habana are the most popular areas with digital nomads.
Offline, however, there is plenty to explore and the local economy is booming, with many ex-pats choosing to work locally instead of digitally recently.

- Cuba is the third most popular destination in the Caribbean and recently its tourism sector has been growing strongly
- Visitors can enjoy the beaches as well as mountaineering activities
- Cuba is a multi-ethnic Hispanic country with a wealth of history and culture
- There are nine UNESCO World Heritage sites in the country with its capital Havana being one of the seven cultural sites. The Viñales Valley, with its isolated, rounded and very steep hills, is one of the natural World Heritage sites
- Cuba has excellent free healthcare for the locals and has recently become a destination for medical tourism
- Cuba is of course also the home of the Mojito and the Cuban cigar!
- September and October is the typhoon season in Cuba
- Varadero Beach has over 12 miles of white sandy coastline
Recent changes in Cuba mean that there are many opportunities here for intrepid ex-pats and those who can work largely offline. Newer coworking and coliving spaces are one of the few places, where remote workers can have internet access at home.
