New Orleans, or Nawlins, as the locals pronounce it, is a melting pot of culture. This is the city for coliving if you want to have city-style fun without a metropolis feel. It was originally founded by a Frenchman but quickly developed into a melting pot of Haitian, Acadian, Spanish, and American influences.
Digital nomads come here because of the friendly atmosphere - this is a city where people talk to their neighbors and greet strangers on the street. It’s not uncommon for drivers to pull over and chat up friends they see walking along.
The city is easy to get around by streetcar, bus, or ferry. The streetcar runs 24 hours. Cycling is easy around town and the busses have bike racks in case you get tired or too hot.
Eating in New Orleans is an absolute dream - seafood is a specialty, but you can find great southern BBQ, Louisiana Creole cuisine, and endless vegetarian options. If you want a true New Orleans experience, go to a “crawfish boil.”
New Orleans has loads of fun things to do - a reason it has become a coliving hub for digital nomads and ex-pats alike. Nightlife is great for all people but especially those who love jazz - check out some live music in the French Quarter any night. There are also many festivals, most notably Mardi Gras which is French for Fat Tuesday. While this is one big week of celebrations, the community has parades and festivities for other holidays too.
