Rooms For Rent in Reykjavík

Reykjavik is on the coast of Iceland and is the capital city. With the vast majority of its citizens living here. As a coliving destination, it’s ideal for a few reasons including the access to the stunning northern lights, as well as the hot lagoons, and the breath-taking sea views. It is a mind-boggling beautiful location for any digital nomad to experience.

When staying in the small capital there will be plenty of time to see everything you want to see, mostly because it is not the biggest of places. Instead take your time to enjoy the sights in between work breaks, and on weekends. In the center of the city stands the Hallgrímskirkja Church, which is worth a visit alone just for the 360° views over the city. Next, you can explore the city by foot or bike and fill up on some of the local cuisines. Feeling adventurous? Why not try the Matur og Drykkur is the cod's head cooked in chicken stock. We’ve heard from our sources it’s delicious.

Wandering around the city, you may come across the Kolaportið, an eclectic flea market. Here you can buy a lopapeysa (hand-knitted wool jumper) to keep you warm, but do try some locally-loved shellfish and visit the other stalls. The community is smaller than you think, so be involved. Also, get yourself to one of Reykjavik's many swimming pools whilst you’re living there, it’s not to be missed. We recommend Nautholsvik, due to the fact it’s geothermally warmed up, toasty bodies all around. Reykjavíkurtjörn, Reykjavík's city pond is popular with nomads, especially ones who love birds. You’ll experience sightings of both swans and ducks. And if you visit in Winter, it should be frozen enough to ice skate on.

We won’t lie to you, this coliving hub is on the pricey side, and it can get super cold. We would say it’s more of a holiday destination than a coliving experience. Yet the locals are friendly to foreigners, there’s great Internet and the whole experience is encased in a relaxed vibe, which makes this city something a little bit out of the ordinary.

Fun facts about Reykjavik:
