In the past, Málaga may have seemed like a coliving spot to skip, but in recent years the city has transformed from a city to pass through on the way to the Costa del Sol to a destination spot on your tour of Spain. The city has become a cultural hotspot, in particular for art-loving nomads, ready to soak up some sun and culture.
Perhaps one of the most famous artists to have been born in the city was Picasso, and since the city opened the Picasso Museum in 2003, it has seen a huge rise in the number of visitors. But don’t let that put you off from visiting yourself.
Beside Picasso, there are art gallery delights such as the Pompidou Centre, Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, and the new SOHO art district, bringing a variety of flavor to the city. With so much art you’ll be immersed for days and will probably struggle to get all your work done. Of course, the city also features several rooftop terraces to catch the stunning ocean views at a pleasant temperature. A word of warning though, you will most likely need to know some Spanish to make the most of your coliving experience here in Málaga. The locals are friendly, but they don’t speak a lot of English. There is a focus on enjoying life here.
Public Wi-Fi will not as good as it will in your home, so keep that in mind when venturing out. Bus and bike will be your best methods of regular transport, as the Metro is still fairly limited. There are many wonderful beaches to be enjoyed all year round, but why not stay for the annual city fair in August. This is a week-long street party, featuring flamenco and 'fino' (sherry). Who’d want to miss that?

Fun facts about Málaga:

- Famous locals include Pablo Picasso, as well as the Hebrew poet Solomon Ibn Gabirol and most recently the actor Antonio Banderas.
- Málaga is the southernmost large city in Europe
- The Port of Málaga has been open since at least 600 BC. Málaga only has 50 days of rain each year!
