Identity and business verification

Verification confirms you are who you say you are (and that your company, if any, is real). It happens once at signup and may be required again if your details change.

What we check

  • Photo ID — passport, national ID card, or driver's licence.
  • A live photo / selfie to match against the ID.
  • Email and phone — both must be active and yours.
  • Business documents — if you host as a company (registration document, VAT/GST number where applicable).

Where to do it

Open Verifications to start or check status. You'll be prompted to upload your ID, take a selfie, and (for company hosts) upload your business documents.

What's required

For ID:

  • Clear photo, all corners visible, no glare.
  • Both sides if it's a card.
  • A live selfie in good lighting (no sunglasses or hat).

For business:

  • Registration document showing legal name and registration number.
  • VAT/GST number (entered as text, verified against the tax authority).

How long it takes

  • Email and phone: instant.
  • ID review: usually 1 business day.
  • Business documents: 1–2 business days; longer if the document is unusual or unclear.

When you might be re-asked to verify

  • You change your legal name.
  • Your ID expires.
  • Your business registration changes.
  • Suspicious activity is detected on your account.

What verification unlocks

  • Publishing listings.
  • Receiving payouts.
  • Higher booking volumes without extra friction.

If verification is rejected

You'll get a notification explaining why. Common reasons:

  • ID photo unclear — glare, cropped corner, low resolution. Retake in good light.
  • Selfie doesn't match — better lighting, no obstructions.
  • Business document unreadable — get a clearer scan.
  • Name mismatch — provide a document linking the names (e.g. marriage certificate).

Resubmit through Verifications. No limit on resubmissions.

Frequently asked questions

Q: My business has a trading name different from its legal name. What do I use? A: The legal registered name on documents. Your trading name can be set as your display name separately.

Q: I changed my legal name. Do I need to redo verification? A: Yes. Update your name in the account, upload the new ID, and (if relevant) a document linking the names.

Q: My business is in one country, the property in another. A: Local hosting rules apply in the country where the property is. We may ask for documents from both jurisdictions.

Q: My ID expired. Will I be locked out? A: We'll prompt you to upload a current ID. You can keep operating during a short grace period; sustained expired-document status can pause payouts.
