Our coliving house is a historic treasure with a modern twist. We’ve kept the beauty of the original structure–with the architectural signature touched like the turret with peaked roof, strong archways in rough cut stone, and the majestic lion’s head just below the turret– is set among a row of traditional brownstones in that is changing with the times. The building is the perfect mix of old-world meets new creative.

There are four floors in total, with six fully renovated apartments and more on the way. There is a rooftop with stunning views of the Manhattan Skyline as well as a courtyard with an expansive patio, perfect for parties, social events and an outdoor oasis in the midst of the city.

There are different options for rooms: Suites with en-suite oversized private baths, executive private rooms with en-suite private full bath, regular private rooms with shared bathrooms, twin rooms with shared bathroom and three-people rooms (some of them with en-suite baths). The private rooms have queen beds and the shared rooms have twin beds, there are suites with king beds as well. All linens and towels are provided as comforters and pillows. We provide closets or wardrobes and closet organizing essentials.

The Bernard Brooklyn house is new–the renovation was complete-floor to ceiling– and the refurbished touches are sleek and modern. Granite tubs and glass showers, new top-of-the-line appliances including refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers and washers and dryers for every apartment. There are two co-working spaces in the basement and a gym and gameroom/TV room.

Bernard Brooklyn Home is located a short distance from the A,C, subway lines and the LIRR train station. Neighborhood attractions include Bedvine Cocktails, Lovers Rock, Eugene & Co., Saraghina and many other local foodie favorites. Fulton Street with its authentic neighborhood vibe and Tomkins Ave on the other side of the block is a great mix of the old and new that is the new gentrified Brooklyn.

We do allow couples and friends to stay in private rooms, ensuring there’s plenty of space for your needs and comfort.

We have a living room area that you can use to work, there is no specified work area in the building. However, we have a partnership with a coworking.

Most of our residents are young professionals and respectful and open-minded people. I’m sure you will be comfortable with the community.

Once you’ve been accepted and confirmed your ideal moving-in date, the host will be there to welcome you to your new home. They will help you settle in your room, show you around the space, and introduce you to the other community members. Once we’ve answered your questions, you will be given time to get settled and make yourself at home.

If the accommodation is not suitable, please contact the staff on arrival and they will do their best to find a mutually agreeable solution.

Basic details for a quick background check

We look for open-minded, considerate individuals who are looking for an opportunity to share a beautiful home with other exciting people.

You can cancel free of charge before you pay. After payment, the listing's cancellation policy applies.

You are allowed to check in earlier if the room is ready. You may get in contact with us the day before you move in to coordinate. Night check-in (after 9 pm) may be also organized for an extra fee of $35 USD. We can't guarantee check-in between 12:00 am and 9 am, however, if we are able to do it, there will be a $70 late check-in fee.

We do not check your credit history. The main factors to be accepted into our community are honesty, transparency, and the purpose of your trip.

You may book a shorter stay first and then extend once you know more about your needs subject to availability.

Security deposits are typically returned within 2 weeks after your stay ends. We will review your room for any excessive damage that would impact your security deposit return. Normal wear and tear are expected. .

You may have overnight guests as a paid service. It will be $15 / night. Just let us know at least 24 hours in advance if someone is coming.

Alcohol – being a health-oriented community, we recommend minimizing alcohol consumption.

We recommend that you have renters insurance. Otherwise, the usual cost of your food, possessions, transit, etc., is your own.
Storage lockers and parking are additional costs.

The common areas come fully furnished.
Bedrooms are furnished with everything essential.
You can add any furniture (including the hanging of pictures) as long as the room is returned to its original condition at the end of your tenancy.

No. But you have a kitchen that you can use anytime you want to prepare your food.

Entire and deep cleaning is carried out every week, including linen and towel changes.

Most people are staying with us for a while. Between 6 to 12 months on average.

While we've been fortunate with our safety record, we encourage you to keep your valuables secure in your room. For extra peace of mind, you might also consider renters insurance to protect against any unforeseen incidents.

There is a restriction in New York for any outside bedroom locks, but you can lock your bedroom when you are inside. You shouldn't worry about your safety when you are out:
1) You will have a safe in the room
2) We have cameras in all common areas
3) We have only long-term residents (usually people staying with us for 6-8 months, but not less than a month). There are no strangers for 1-2 nights stay and all residents are checked during the reservation process.

We take your safety very seriously. The last thing we want is to have a reputation for not being a safe place to stay. We screen both our staff and guests, provide 24-hour security and CCTV cameras are usually installed. Plus, you have people in the house practically 24 hours a day.

Our coliving home is in a perfectly safe neighborhood where you can walk by yourself in the evening without any problem.

Just a few minutes' walk away, you'll discover a variety of excellent, budget-friendly restaurants to explore.
