About Souda Beach Phoenix
Nestled 41km southwest of Rethymno city and just 3km east of the bustling resort of Plakias, Souda is a secluded and idyllic corner of Crete that offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Don't mistake it for Souda Bay, the natural harbor of Chania City; it is a sandy beach known as Yialia, located at the final stretch of the Plakias seafront, with Shinaria many kilometers away.
Souda is situated at the mouth of a verdant valley and crisscrossed by the Finikas River, which flows all year round. The native Cretan palm trees of Theophrastus flourish along the river and in numerous other locations, making it a significant refuge for the species. The stunning landscape set against a backdrop of mountains and sea, coupled with the sandy beach, make Souda a perfect destination for a relaxing and tranquil escape.
Thanks to its direct location by the sea, the weather here is often mild compared to other areas in December to March, comparable to sunny spring weather in May in Germany. Though occasional rain showers may occur, there's an abundance of sunshine, and the water temperature on Souda Beach does not go below 18 degrees Celsius.

Even though our location is good if you'd like to walk or bike, it's a short distance to Plakias for a bus.
You can take a taxi or our service to Chania or Heraklion in about 90 minutes. There are also buses almost every day.
