Founded by a Portuguese team who believed in the power of community, samesame became Europe’s first community-driven coliving and Lisbon’s very first coliving. Since opening our doors in May 2018, we’ve brought together people from around the globe, offering a unique coliving experience that feels like a second home. Here, you can immerse yourself in Portuguese culture, make meaningful new connections, and enjoy a peaceful workspace.

The samesame complex includes two coliving buildings — Beco and Madalena — a dedicated coworking area, and an open terrace designed for internal community events. Together, these spaces create a complete experience: a cozy home away from home, a calm and focused place to work, and a welcoming environment that brings the community together through shared activities.

Our charming nest is ideal for activities, classes, events, tours, dinners, workshops, and social interactions. We welcome locals and internationals of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds to connect through our weekly agenda. These events range from sports and social activities to festive, educational, and cultural happenings, making each experience truly special.

About Baixa

On one side, there are Cais do Sodré, Chiado, and Carmo. On the other, the Cathedral and the hill of Castelo de São Jorge. The Baixa neighborhood, which is bathed by the Tagus River, is the most central area in Lisbon, offering all kinds of commerce and access to various forms of transportation. The iconic architecture, traditional tiled facades, and pervasive Portuguese romanticism are integral to the neighborhood’s DNA. There is no chance of getting bored around here.

The room you will be assigned might differ slightly from the photos but will match the room type. You are booking a room/bed by type, not a specific unit.

You don´t need to tour the property, and here is why:
- Properties on Coliving.com have pictures and a clear description of the community, rooms, and common areas. Most of them also have 3D or video tours.
- Restricting viewings provide equal opportunities for everyone, whether you are a local or live abroad. Plus, it preserves the privacy of our coliving communities.
- If anything is unclear, you can easily reach out to the property by clicking "Contact host" and ask for more details. Make sure your questions are not already covered in the description or the FAQ section.
- Coliving.com makes sure the coliving property is as advertised, by only sending any money to the operator 24h after you have successfully moved in.
- If the property substantially differ from what is advertiser, you report it to us and we will help you find another place.

We do have a co-working space where you have for free a hot desk or a fixed one for a special rate.

You will co-live with a like-minded worldwide community of amazing people from early twenties to late thirties.

Once you’ve been accepted and confirmed your ideal moving-in date, the host will be there to welcome you to your new home. They will help you settle in your room, show you around the space, and introduce you to the other community members. Once we’ve answered your questions, you will be given time to get settled and make yourself at home.

If the accommodation is not suitable, please contact the staff on arrival and they will do their best to find a mutually agreeable solution.

A small community of like-minded people, coming from all different parts of the globe and different backgrounds: they can be digital nomads, remote workers, expats, students, business travellers in the different creative fields such as design, art or marketing. On daily basis you will also have the opportunity to co-work with local creatives by booking a sit in one of our co-working spaces.

Shared areas are all the areas outside your bedroom and bathroom. From the kitchen to the living room and any other corners you can find around the co-living. Except if you book a private apartament, then you don’t have to share the kitchen and living room.

When you are officially part of family, you have acess to:

So yes, we do clean on a weekly basis. On a daily basis, since this is your home as well, we are counting on you to keep our shared spaces organized. We don’t cook on a daily basis, but we (the team behind this project) love to make community dinners, invite you to have dinner somewhere else or be pleased by the meal you would prepare for us. After all, sharing is caring.
What is not included in the fee is the access to the co-works owned by samesame, to any gym or laundry services, portuguese classes or free groceries (although you have access to a free organic fruit and vegetables’ basket each week :)) . We have special rates negotiated with some partners that can help you to get access to these type of commodities.

You have place to take a sit and work – as you would do in any other house. However, if you are looking for a creative and productive environment, we built two creative spaces around the corner, with special fees for its residents.

Different types of events are organized every week to connect the community.
From “community first” events such as family meals, wellness, creative, cultural, exploring and solidarity events.

To make it easier for each co-liver to decide if they need a place to work or not – this fee is not included in the final price. But we have a special price for our co-livers, making it a 7€ per day fee :).

We dreamt of a close like-minded community, so there are a total of nine bedrooms, 5 in the 2nd floor and 5 in the 3rd floor.
In each bedroom you are expected to find a bed with an high end mattress, climate control, an in-room wardrobe.
Some rooms also have balconies and terraces, applying for one of these depends availability.
There is a private bathroom inside each bedroom and you can count with weekly cleaning and changed linens and towels.
