I found Elaine to be passionate, creative, and willing to break boundaries in her artistic expression. Her artwork pulls you into her creative space of intrigue, emotions, and fascination.
I have an opportunity to work with Elaine when I hosted a sock doll-making workshop at The Hatchery Place in February 2020.
Elaine is professional, committed to providing convenience, comfort, and an amiable space for me and the students to learn sock doll making. I feel assured and comforted by her helpfulness and commitment to ensuring everything is in place during the workshop.
Once the MCO is over, I will surely host another sock doll-making workshop at The Hatchery Place once more.
The Hatchery is a very cosy yet functional safe space to interact. Space holders Elaine and Kevin are warm and have truly opened up their hearts and minds in providing such a much needed co-living and co-working sanctuary that not only visiting guests but the immediate community can tap in to.
This is just a lot more than a place to stay/work. It's the vision and passion of two local entrepreneurs that has shaped into, amongst others, a community of like-minded people and a space to pursue projects. At the moment of this writing I've been living here for 4 months and I've become really good friends with many community members. As a solo traveler/digital nomad, this place has provided me with the community I was hoping to find. I was prepared to stay only for a couple weeks if I didn't like it but turns out I did like it (I am planning to stay 2-4 more months). The space is a fully functional house, the kitchen is simple and small but it does the job, I cook most of the days simple yummy stuff.
I stayed 3 months at this place in 2018, and have lived primarily in Kuala Lumpur since. Kevin and Elaine have become dear friends, as they are to all guests who stay here, and over time this builds quite a community of people. the location is near everything, including many vegetarian restaurants, organic grocery stores, many convenience stores, and a quick grab to malls and supermarkets. This combination makes it a great starting location for commencing your life in Kuala Lumpur, like I have done over the years.
