Listing - Basics

Quick answer: Use the Basics page to set the listing's core identity: address, title, property size, capacity, neighborhood, map position, and Google Maps review link. These details help Coliving.com place the listing correctly, review it faster, and give residents accurate expectations before they book.

What the Basics page controls

The Basics page is the foundation of your listing. It tells Coliving.com where the property is, how large it is, how many residents it can host, and how it should be positioned on the map.

These details are used for listing review, internal operations, search accuracy, resident expectations, and support. Some details may not be shown publicly in full, but they still need to be accurate.

Before you start

Prepare these details before editing Basics:

  • Full street address
  • Postal code, city, region, and country
  • Property or internal listing name
  • Approximate floorspace
  • Total bedrooms
  • Total bathrooms
  • Maximum resident capacity
  • Neighborhood name residents would recognize
  • Google Maps business or property link, if available

Add the address and location

Enter the full property address and select the matching result from the address dropdown when possible.

Coliving.com uses the full address for location accuracy, map placement, review, and operations. The full address is only shared with residents after payment is completed, so it should be complete even if you do not want it publicly visible before booking.

After selecting an address, review any fields that are filled automatically. Check the postal code, city, region, and country before saving.

Listing title and property identity

Use the Listing title for the property name your team recognizes internally.

A good title is clear and specific. It should help your team identify the property without adding marketing claims, contact details, or temporary promotions.

Good examples:

  • The Collective Canary Wharf
  • Noli Studios Katajanokka
  • Sunset Coliving Lisbon

Avoid:

  • Phone numbers or email addresses
  • Website URLs
  • Best deal or seasonal promotions
  • Area names that do not match the actual location

Floorspace, bedrooms, bathrooms, and capacity

Enter the total floorspace residents can access, then add the total number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and maximum residents.

These numbers should match the Rooms page. For example, if Basics says the property can host 12 residents, the room types you add later should explain where those 12 residents sleep.

If these numbers do not match, the listing may be harder to approve and residents may ask more questions before booking.

Neighborhood and map pin

Use a neighborhood name residents would understand when comparing locations. This should be more specific than the city, but not so narrow that residents cannot recognize it.

After the address is added, check the map pin. Move it if the default position is wrong or slightly off.

A correct map pin helps residents understand commute times, nearby transport, and the general area before they decide to book.

Google Maps listing

If the property has a Google Maps listing, connect it on the Basics page.

This can help Coliving.com import or verify review signals and improve resident trust. Search for the property name or address, then choose the correct result.

Skip this step if you are not sure which Google Maps result is correct. It is better to leave it blank than connect the wrong property.

Common mistakes to avoid

Avoid these issues before saving:

  • Using an incomplete address
  • Choosing the wrong address from the dropdown
  • Setting a capacity that does not match the Rooms page
  • Adding a public marketing title instead of the recognizable property name
  • Using a neighborhood that is too broad or inaccurate
  • Leaving the map pin in the wrong place
  • Connecting the wrong Google Maps listing

What to review before saving

Before you move to the next listing step, check that:

  • The full address is correct
  • The listing title is recognizable
  • Floorspace, bedrooms, bathrooms, and capacity are realistic
  • The neighborhood matches the actual area
  • The map pin is in the right place
  • The Google Maps listing is correct, if connected

Accurate Basics information makes the rest of the listing easier to complete and helps Coliving.com review the listing faster.
