Our property is a historical mountain hostel surrounded by the majestic fjords of Voss, Norway. Originally built as a peace project after WWII by students from 20 countries, we invite community guests to join us in carrying on their spirit and tradition of collaboration.

We are located outside of Voss, the extreme sports capitol of Norway, between the country's 2 largest fjords, Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord. Despite being at the end of the road deep in the valley, we have our own train stop and are 2 hours from the nearest airport in Bergen. Our lodge is both profoundly remote and eminently accessible.

Traveling to us: We have our own train stop, making it easy to reach us directly from Bergen (2 hours) or Oslo (5-7 hours) by train, car or bus. We arrange bus and shuttle transport from any city or airport for teams for an additional fee.

Coworking & event space: Dedicated work spaces with comfortable chairs, raise/lower desks and HD monitors for 10 people. This is in addition to numerous places around the lodge to work comfortably. We also have a large events hall and and several lounge areas for more collaborative sessions, as well as spaces for private calls.

Guest rooms & amenities: Private or shared room options in cozy alpine lodging, including both ensuite and shared bathrooms, sauna and fully catered lodge kitchen. Comfortable communal spaces for downtime and team connection.

Nearby Activities: Outdoor adventure options include hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, climbing, skiing, and fjord excursions, nature-based for team bonding and creative breaks. We also arrange excursions to regional activities, like visits to artisanal food producers or sightseeing on Flåmsbane, one of the most beautiful train rides in the world.

Internet and Wifi: We installed our own telecom base station. Not quite fiber, but close.

Our community is driven by the ethos that life is about sharing epic experiences: exploring the mountains, ourselves and collaboration with one another. We want to invest in bringing people together to do epic things in the mountains and the real world, connecting ideas and action in the spirit of the original youth hostel. Anyone who visits our lodges — solo or with friends — is eligible to join. Once a year we will invite members to join a group trip to an epic destination unknown. We've thought about members weeks with special programming and others ways of adventuring and hope you to will help define the rest.

About Epic Mountain Valley

Our neighborhood sits at the very end of a mountain valley outside Voss in western Norway, surrounded by steep cliffs, forests, waterfalls and views of epic fjords. Life here is quiet and spacious, with only a handful of farms, cabins, and lakes and hiking trails as neighbors.

Within a 45 minute drive, you reach the adventure hub of Voss, with options for skydiving, paragliding, rafting and world‑class skiing. Closer to home, the focus is slower: campfires, stargazing, berry picking, and listening to the river from a hammock or sauna deck.

This is a place for deep focus and deep rest. The mountains block out city noise, but not connection: you can spend the day in intense work sessions, then step outside and feel like you have the entire valley to yourself.

Yes, we have a nice dedicated coworking space with comfortable chairs, electronic standing or sitting desks and nice high-definition monitors for your use. We also have our own base station so despite being remote, the internet is very fast.

Our guests come from all over the world to experience the beautiful nature in Norway! Many are here to adventure in the mountains, while others are looking to unplug or work remotely with beautiful surroundings. Most of our guests are between the ages of 25 and 40.

Once you’ve been accepted and confirmed your ideal moving-in date, the host will be there to welcome you to your new home. They will help you settle in your room, show you around the space, and introduce you to the other community members. Once we’ve answered your questions, you will be given time to get settled and make yourself at home.

If the accommodation is not suitable, please contact the staff on arrival and they will do their best to find a mutually agreeable solution.

Thanks for asking! The lodge is fairly remote, so there aren’t many restaurants within walking distance. We do have a lovely on-site restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with fresh local dishes—many guests find it very convenient. If you’d like other options, our team can recommend nearby restaurants.

You can take the train directly to the lodge at Ørneberget stop on the Bergen train line or nearby at Ljosanbotn if you are not comfortable carrying luggage downhill.

The nearest airport is about 2 hours by train or a little longer by car from Bergen, and roughly 5–7 hours from Oslo depending on traffic and connections. If you’d like, our team can suggest the best route and transport options for your arrival.

There's plenty to do nearby! We’re surrounded by endless mountains and nature—perfect for hiking and mountain biking. You can also go swimming or fishing in local lakes and rivers, and there are options for skydiving and paragliding if you’re after an adrenaline rush. If you’d like, our Community Residents can share favorite trails and activity suggestions to help you plan.
