Merdeka House

We’ve been visiting West Sumbawa for years, and this place is our go-to for a wholesome, good time. The location on top of the hill gives you the most insane view of two surf spots on opposite sides of the bay. It’s only a 10-15 minute stroll to the beach and even faster by scooter.

They have Starlink WiFi and a sitting desk area. There were a handful of remote workers on my trip, so the fast WiFi was extremely handy for a couple of work emails. There are lots of nooks for people to be on their laptops and read a book.

The rooms are cozy and offer en-suite toilets. We’ve slept in the dorms before as well and loved the extra airflow. There is a shared toilet and shower if you’re in the dorms.

Dinners are communal if you’d like to join the other guests. This coliving brings a cool mix of people from all different walks of life. It makes for interesting conversations and big laughs.

I would highly recommend staying here. The crew that runs it is like family 🙂

I stayed here for three months. I had a unique coliving experience, as I came during a quiet period, so I was the only person in the house for the most part. The house is well organized and easy to take care of, the hosts are responsive and kind, and the price was good. Although it was a twenty minute walk to the nearest station, it was worth it due to how quiet the neighborhood is and how friendly the people who live nearby are.

I had an incredible experience staying at this coliving space with a breathtaking view of the bay. The welcome was warm, and the rooms were very clean. The ceiling fans were more than enough to ensure a comfortable night's sleep after a day of surfing. The location was perfect—close to top surfing spots like yo-yo's and tropical. It was also very peaceful, and the included dinner was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend staying here without any hesitation.

The Coliving is in a beautiful location - right on the beach - with the best view! Epic sunsets, super friendly hosts, delicious dinner, great surf and snorkeling - everything you could need for a great stay.

I had a wonderful experience here with the beautiful location and breathtaking views. The surroundings were perfect for inspiration and relaxation. Staying for a month allowed me to fully immerse myself in the environment and get to know some amazing people in the coliving space. The host made sure everything was comfortable and convenient for all guests, which really enhanced my overall experience.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Ended up extending for a week. Beautiful view, excellent facilities and great local homecooked dinner every night. Highly recommend a stay here as homebase in the area. The hosts are super chill and the Scooter was excellent.

This is a spectacular accommodation and at the same time a beautiful project of a couple of Australian surfers.
The views from every room in the house are impressive. The Supersuck wave looks perfect.
Large and fully equipped kitchen.
Pleasant and comfortable common areas, which invite you to relax and start a conversation with other travelers.
Dinner, included in the price, is varied and abundant. You dine in the common area together with others and create a close family atmosphere - what a great idea!
The hosts Georgia and Joey, along with the service staff, make our stay very pleasant - always ready to help us with a smile.

Breathtaking view of the bay and surf spots. The common areas, living room, kitchen and well-appointed games room are very bright as they are open on each side. Whether with family or friends, this coliving is the place to be. The welcome was top-notch!

Beautiful location and lovely team! The hosts are so nice and helpful. He is a great host, and she cooks yummy :) They have the best scooters in the area! Unfortunately, there is no AC or pool, which can make hanging out tough at times due to the heat and humidity. The scenery is stunning. Good value for money. Recommended :)

The view is amazing. It's close to surfing spots and the price is pocket-friendly. The accommodation only has fans, so you'll have to sleep in the heat. It's a self-service homestay, so you'll need to cook your own food or go buy it in the village which is quite far away. You'll also have to wash your own dishes. If these are things you're looking for, then this coliving might be for you. However, it wasn't my cup of tea as I needed more than just a breathtaking view for my stay to be convenient. Also, the staff asked me to check out early because there was a new guest arriving soon - not great service.
