About Pyren'escape

Discover Pyren'escape

During a family trip, just after confinement, when we were wondering how to give more meaning to our activities, we decided to transform our large guest house into a meeting place for people wanting to achieve projects.

The concept of coliving, known to traveling children, naturally emerged and mobilized the whole family. A year and a half later, we are there and the Terrasses de Saubissan give way to Pyren'Escape, the first rural co-living in the French Pyrenees

THE TERRACES OF SAUBISSAN BECOME PYREN'ESCAPE
your place of residence,
in the heart of the Pyrenees
Pyren'Escape is a unique experience to connect with others, and reconnect with yourself.
Access to a rich, intense and meaningful life, shared with a benevolent community of free and creative spirits, in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains.
Whether for a teleworking stay in the mountains, a vacation, or the organization of an internship or seminar, discover this atypical place with 1001 possibilities

Who are we? Formerly Les Terrasses de Saubissan, Pyren'Escape is an old farm, located in the heart of the Pyrenees, where the mountains are the highest.

When we acquired it in 2005, our family unit, made up of Clairie, Vincent and their two children, Babou and Yaël, was not specifically intended to provide care.

We learned around a guest house, for almost 20 years, run by Vincent, while Clairie devoted herself to architecture, that Babou left to travel the world as a great athlete and that Yaël grew up quietly.

And then came the covid crisis, and the questions that followed. The parents were heading towards the end of their professional careers while the children were at the beginning, and we took the time to reflect on the future of this very large farm, and the wishes of each member of the family.

Vincent and Clairie wanted to continue to receive by extracting themselves from the monotonous rhythm of the holidays and by giving more meaning to the welcome, Babou and Yaël wanted to continue their life as digital independents.

As soon as the confinement ended, the whole family went on a roadtrip for a while to think about the path to follow.

This is how the idea of a coliving was born. We had a corner of paradise in a preserved region and we wanted to be able to share it with people who take their time. The link was all found between the parents, in love with their territory (but who like to leave) and the children, ultra connected to the world (but who like to come back).

So, as we like challenges and because, on this one, everyone could find their place, we created the first rural co-living in the French Pyrenees.

Clairie and Vincent are the head and legs of the place. Clairie designs the plans, directs the work; Vincent manages reservations, welcomes, maintains and assumes the role of community manager.

Babou and Yaël are the social managers, thanks to their web and social network skills. They ensure the visibility of the place, even if they do not disdain coming to recharge their batteries there regularly.

Here we go for a new adventure that makes sense, and we really hope that you will want to join our community and enjoy a magical place. We are waiting for you!

I had a really wonderful stay at the coliving. The staff was so helpful with arranging car hire and recommendations of where to go. There was a really welcoming, community vibe with activities and shared meals happening regularly. I had an en-suite double room with a nice view. Good facilities, a lovely outdoor space with a beautiful view, and different spaces to work, relax, and socialise.

Wow! I had the most amazing time in the coliving! Such a welcoming place matching perfectly with the warmth of the staff. It attracts soulful, like-minded, interesting people I expected. Not to mention our dear furry friend with his canine smile 😊 and the breathtaking views. Will come back for sure! Went on my own and left with dear new friends.

My first coliving experience and it couldn’t have been better!

The scenery around and the nature are breathtaking, the house cozy and welcoming and the hosts are wonderful, always in the best mood, organizing activities and helping you feel like a local! There is a warm welcoming community around that makes you feel like a part of it!

The house is spacious - you can enjoy your own quiet time but also connect easily with the other colivers. It’s perfect for working remotely, with comfortable spaces to focus.

I met such lovely people and together we created wonderful memories! With so many activities, from hikes and local events to potlucks and cozy board games - every day felt special!

I will definitely come back! À la prochaine! 💚🏡🏔️

A rich experience filled with encounters in the mountains. A place conducive to sharing, where everyone finds their space to work or relax; I loved it!
Thank you to the team and the volunteers who welcomed me so well. I was able to go on wonderful hikes, as well as canyoning and via ferrata during my stay, not to mention the laughter during the BBQ evening. Unforgettable moments in this coliving where I would have loved to extend my stay!

This has been a very enriching experience for me. The French Pyrenees are powerful, beautiful, and delicate. The owners are lovely people that I hold dear. I'm really grateful I got to know them and spend this time as part of a family. The house is a beautiful building with unparalleled views and many outdoor places to feel at ease and in awe... the garden, the bonfire area, the hammocks, or just contemplating while sitting on a bench. Being a traveler implies reaching deeper into the culture and its people, which give character to natural places. This was vigorously promoted in the coliving activities... Choir-potluck, local concerts, volunteering at the cultural center's bistro, volunteering at the neighbor's organic farm, herding a gigantic flock of sheep as an annual hiking event, opening of a local community center, weekly visit to Arreau's beautiful market with local products, pantuflada (google it), and much more. All this on top of all imaginable activities in the mountains... hiking, paragliding (in the best possible place), river rafting, canyoning... Again, the list can go on forever. The absolute difference between being a disengaged tourist collecting photos and activities versus a traveler diving into the local culture was the owners, who are wizards creating a unique blend that allows for a dialogue between the traveler and the locals; this is human connection. Now, about the co-livers I had the privilege to meet and share many conversations, experiences, and delicious meals with surprising people from around the world, I definitely have many favorites (you know who you are). The accommodations and all other facilities for cooking, co-working, relaxing, or any other needs are excellent; just visit the website to get the idea. Don't miss out, become a traveler; there are too many disengaged tourists already. This is outstanding!
