When I booked my stay, I had no idea where I was going. I just showed up… and honestly, I was shocked at how lovely and peaceful this place turned out to be.
The coliving is in a tiny medieval village in Umbria, Italy. At first, it feels like you’ve stepped back in time, but then you realize you’re also living right inside this little community. The spaces are spread across the village, so every day you’re wandering narrow stone streets and passing neighbors who always stop for a smile or a chat. It makes you feel like part of the family.
Life here runs slow in the nicest way. Two restaurants, a café with focaccia and cakes that taste like heaven, and a minimarket that has just what you need. Once a week, a supermarket truck literally rolls into town, which feels both funny and charming. And the person who runs the coliving makes sure no one’s missing anything, even driving us to a bigger supermarket nearby.
The days had their own rhythm. One moment we were rafting or biking through the hills, the next we were sitting down for family dinners with fresh vegetables straight from the garden. And let me tell you… this place stole my heart because of one thing: the truffle. Every meal with truffle here felt like a little piece of paradise on a plate.
Work was easy with the coworking space, comfy chairs, good WiFi, and windows that looked out on hills that don’t even feel real. And every evening, no matter what, I’d watch the sun dip behind the mountains. It became my ritual, the kind you never forget.
I came here with no plan and no expectations. I left with memories, friendships, and a piece of my heart still sitting somewhere between the village streets and a plate of truffle pasta < 3
Thank you for creating this coliving; it's truly magical!
I had an excellent stay at the coliving. The coliving is located in a beautiful medieval village in the Umbria region of Italy. The fact that the services and spaces of the coliving are spread throughout the village makes the experience even more charming—you really feel like part of the community. Everyone in the village is so nice, always giving you a small chat.
The activities offered are diverse and exciting: from rafting and mountain bike trips to visits to nearby villages, family dinners, and cultural exchanges with local residents. These activities gave me the chance to deeply connect with the local culture and cuisine, which was a highlight of my stay.
The village itself has two excellent restaurants, a cozy café serving really good focaccias and homemade cakes, and a small minimarket for daily necessities. Once a week, a supermarket truck comes to town, which is both convenient and part of the charm of village life. On top of this, the coliving manager was taking us to the nearest supermarket (10 minutes drive) at least once a week which was really convenient.
One of the things I enjoyed the most were the family meals. We often cooked with vegetables straight from the garden that are cultivated by the manager. The freshness and flavor of the produce made every meal special.
The coliving is what in Italy they call a “diffuse coliving,” meaning the facilities are spread across different locations within the village. I found this to be a huge plus—it gave me the chance to walk through the picturesque streets every day and soak in the beauty of the medieval setting.
The rooms were spacious and well-equipped, and the coworking space was excellent, with ergonomic chairs and monitors that made it easy to stay productive. The views from the village are breathtaking, and watching the sunset from one of the many viewpoints became a daily ritual.
This was the first experience, and it was beautiful to share the spaces of the coliving and coworking with two wonderful people. One of them is a fountain of ideas and has so much good energy. The project is still in its early stages but is well organized and equipped. We felt immediately at home thanks to the warm welcome we received. And not only that, we were in great company experiencing incredible local life experiences such as visiting a cheese factory, exploring hidden villages reached via scenic roads with breathtaking views, descending the Nera River with its clear waters and untouched nature, and enjoying evenings organized with local people. The medieval village is a charming place, with two towers acting as entrance gates, stone houses, the Mother Church with its frescoes, the scents that fill the air while walking, and the peace and tranquility despite it being August, surrounded by greenery for walks and excursions in nature on foot and by bike. It is a place that deserves to come back to life, just as the few resident inhabitants do, who unfortunately have witnessed its abandonment. Besides having a great time, we are satisfied to have participated in this integration experience. We recommend it.
My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of spending a few days in August at this coliving, and we fell in love with it.
Vallo di Nera, the medieval village where the coliving is located, is truly a hidden gem. We were impressed by the care with which the locals and the coliving managers preserve this place: an unspoiled and authentic beauty. There are no cement blocks or random tiles that would ruin its magic. At the same time, we were amazed that the village is equipped with modern services, such as fiber optic internet reaching even the medieval houses, faster than what we have in Rome! As architects, we greatly appreciated this type of preservation.
In addition to the beauty of the medieval village, the coliving is surrounded by breathtaking natural sites and beautiful green walks: you can explore hermitages in the forest, dive into the cool waters of the stream, go rafting, or relax in a thermal site just a few minutes away by car. The air is crisp and pure, and the temperature in August was simply perfect for rejuvenating from the heat of Rome.
An ideal place to work remotely and escape the stress of city life. In the village, we also found two respectable restaurants and a bar: truly high quality, very fresh truffles in abundance, and very honest prices. We regretted staying so little; we will definitely return when we need to disconnect from Roman life.
The manager of the coliving took incredible care of us: he showed us around, let us taste local dishes, and one evening we even celebrated and danced with a group of young locals.
I don't usually leave reviews, but I think they truly deserve 5 stars for the experience they provided us. It is clear they have just opened and currently have a limited number of rooms. Speaking with the manager, he told us they would like to expand and are working to acquire new spaces. We sincerely wish them the best because they are doing an excellent job with great passion, in a place that is simply enchanting.
I stayed for 10 days in this splendid coliving and had the honor of meeting its wonderful residents: I felt immediately welcomed but still enjoyed my personal time and space. The staff member was always available for any of my needs and full of interesting suggestions to make the most of the experience in Vallo. I can't wait to return!
I went to the coworking space to work for an entire afternoon, and from the very first moment, I was perfectly attended to. I was shown the facilities, where I had a couple of monitors that I could use, and the wifi worked perfectly. 100% recommendable, I will return soon!!
What an amazing experience at Vallo di Nera village in Umbria. The setting is sublime, in a beautiful medieval village that seems perfectly sculpted out of ancient stone in the stunning Perugian countryside. Accommodation is in the village houses, and the co-working provisions are in the actual village town hall, with full use of all facilities, including a professional kitchen. Riccardo is an excellent host also, with a full range of interesting activities to do in spare time. It’s a unique experience, which I recommend 100%.
We spent one week living a wonderful experience in Vallo di Nera with Riccardo and the other hosts from any country in the world. It was enjoyable to work surrounded by nature and the beautiful Italian borgo. I loved working with my dog besides me :) Even if it is close to the city (Spoleto), you can enjoy a full immersion in nature and the quietness of Vallo di Nera. Local people are friendly and welcome you, and you can do many activities. We did also the dog trekking by Kanito: great experience! I loved living a local experience and, at the same time, an international one meeting other smart workers from different countries.
Es war echt schön! I’ve been staying at this co-living space in a lovely village for one week, and it’s been an amazing experience! The peaceful surroundings are perfect for relaxing, and the village has such a charming, friendly vibe. The shared spaces are modern and well-maintained; I really like the co-working and dining place.
My room is cozy and gives me the privacy I need, but there’s always the option to join in with social activities. The Joga, truffle, and hiking experiences they bring were amazing for me.
Plus, it’s wonderful to have nature right on the doorstep. The staff is helpful and responsive, making it a stress-free place to live. Highly recommend!
I stayed for a month in this coliving while passing through Val Nerina. The host was incredibly welcoming and helpful, radiating a true passion for this work and a desire to keep the community alive. The area is well cared for and beautifully preserved.
