The international house are perfect place to study, before I arrived in international house, I can’t speak English, Karen provide school, party, actives, I’m able to communications with other people. Amazing opportunity I’m my life, my career had a up. Today I’m engineering manager of the international Company.
Thank you Karen, thank you international house.
This house is excellent. Confortable place. You can find a good location you can call home. I recommend it!
The house is truly spacious and welcoming. Even in the cold winter, it's warm inside the house. Moreover, there are many convenient accessories such as the washing machine and a good kitchen. The rooms are very tidy and comfortable. The house is well connected to the city center.
I highly recommend it to everyone!
Overall a great place to stay, a good community-feel. Relaxed but with an edge. The location is decent and very bus accessible, but it's not woodbridge or anything. Its the neighbors actually that make the location special. This is the “real” Detroit. But close enough to downtown or gross point to enjoy their luxuries. Nate, the handy local “concierge” who keeps watching over the houses is a wonderful man and will always point you in the right direction if you have any questions. So don’t be weirded out by this friendly old mad occasionally patrolling around the block! He’s always good for a quick story or a magic coin trick, or a bit of a history lesson. I’ve very much enjoyed my time here. Close to a great gym/health club called Field House, its sports facility with an indoor turf and a selection of classes and a spectacular studio called “RAMP” where you can get all sorts of recovery services after like leg compressions after a long bike ride or indoor soccer game. They also have hydration iv’s and vitamin b shots for after those unique to Detroit nights of techno debauchery.
I had a great time and met great people.
I am currently staying at the DIH while I study English at community college here in Detroit and it is a warm, friendly and clean place to stay. I like that there are shelves in the kitchen that you can store your food or small supplies on and everything is very clearly marked in simple English for people learning to better understand. The environment is super inviting and I have made a lot of friends already thanks to my time here.
I would love to stay again whenever I will be back in Detroit and wish all the best to Karen and the other guests!
Detroit International House -Jersey City was a wonderful space in an amazing location about a 30-minute bus ride from New York City And the bus stop was right outside the house! It was wonderful staying there and meeting people from China, Iran, Colombia, Ecuador, Turkey, and more, and being able to share meals each day of the week thanks to a volunteer sign-ups system the lovely manager Karen created. An intern was there to check me in and I had the opportunity to volunteer and was even invited to volunteer at their Detroit location with free housing! The bunk bed and stay were affordable at around $500-700 per month in December of 2019. I also loved all of the Indian and Arab markets near the Journal Square train station, as well as the Stop and Shop grocery store near our house.
