As one of the first bitcoin friendly hostels in Mexico, we are located in the La Merced neighbourhood of San Cristobal de Las Casas in Chiapas. The hostel is four blocks to the west of the city centre and offers both dorm rooms and private rooms.
On the ground floor there are two dorm rooms with a total of 12 pods. Each pod consists of a Japanese style bed with its own individual light, power socket and curtain for privacy. In each dorm room, guests are provided with a large personal locker with a key to store your belongings. There is also a communal lounge and a shared kitchen, with storage space for individual food items. In the shared lounge we have an open fireplace, used during the colder winter months.
The private rooms are located on the first floor, they are spacious for a couple and have plenty of storage space. Bathrooms and showers are shared and are spread throughout the property. We have recently enhanced hygienic measures in the bathrooms, showers and kitchen to ensure a more pleasant stay for our guests. We have a great bar on the first floor where a weekly event takes place; our in-house bartender specialises in creating delicious cocktails. In the bar, there is plenty of seating for digital nomads, a small communal bookshelf, a darts board, and a selection of board games for you to enjoy.
Our rooftop terrace has a spectacular view of the city & surrounding mountains, and is the perfect place to chill, watch the sunset or enjoy a morning yoga session. Our house cat Baloo will greet you with his curiosity and will keep you entertained! Our past guests and volunteers have left their mark on the hostel with a selection of mural artworks and an essay on bitcoin. You will find colourful and humorous touches throughout the hostel.
We provide free drinking water, free breakfast, free WiFi, and a paid laundry service. We can arrange package tours in collaboration with our partners so that you can explore Chiapas and the wider region at ease. We offer a shuttle service to Guatemala with our tour agency partners. Our friendly staff will be happy to help you and will be available on reception from 8am to 11pm daily, check-in is from 1pm onwards and check-out is by 11am. Early check-ins and late check-outs can potentially be arranged with prior agreements.
We're a community of digital nomads, remote workers, and travellers. Our guests typically come from similar backgrounds.
Please note that we are "Bitcoin friendly," which means that we encourage (through discounts) but definitely don't demand payment in Bitcoin.

The local area is full of things to do: hiking, exploring the beautiful old-colonial town, numerous churches, lots of markets, local indigenous villages, and much, much more. There is an incredible canyon nearby, lakes, forests... The town has loads of excellent bakeries, cafes, and restaurants, as well as loads of live music.
There's also the option to practice Spanish, English, & French in our community, and the local area has many opportunities to learn about and experience Mexican culture.
Come to SanCris and fall in love with the local area and local culture, and use our coliving as a base for exploring the beautiful mountains and valleys of Chiapas.
