We are dedicated coliving community on the southern coast of Kenya. We have a total of six rooms, including two larger standard rooms and six basic rooms, all of which are en-suite and equipped with air conditioning.

Ahead of arrival we add guests to a WhatsApp group so that they can get in touch with people who are staying and start organizing adventures.

Our mattresses are reasonably firm, but we also provide a soft mattress and a selection of pillows to cater to differing preferences.

Internet is provided via a fiber connection, as well as a Starlink connection that is load-balanced and backed up by a double redundant power supply, including solar panels and a backup generator. Wi-Fi is across the site and you can also request a wired connection if needed in your room.

On-site, we offer a fully equipped gym with air conditioning that is available 24/7 to guests, as well as a coworking space. Additionally, we provide complimentary push bikes for getting around town, a plunge pool, and a slack line.

A simple breakfast is included in our rate, offering a selection of cereals, fruits, and occasionally pancakes.

Our restaurant is renowned as one of the best pizzerias on the coast of Kenya, serving Neapolitan-style pizza. Currently, it is ranked 8th out of 50 pizza places on the coast on TripAdvisor and #1 in Diani on Google.

For our guests' convenience, we also offer a menu of reheat-able ready meal boxes priced around $4.75, as well as freshly made poke bowls. If you prefer to cook for yourself, we have a fully equipped kitchen and a large guest fridge/freezer.

Community

We are an easy going community. A lot of our guests say that they are very productive while they're staying with us and we hope that's a good thing.

Our guests are generally a mix of solo travelers and nomads with a mix of how much grind they need to put in and variety of time zones.

Depending on the season guests might spend weekends kitesurfing, doing day trips or going on safaris. We also occasionally run a Shimba Hills ridge trip which is a very pretty spot for an overnight stay and day out.

The town provides plenty of nightlife including salsa dancing, karaoke and a variety of different local to international bars.

Diani Beach

Diani Beach is a reasonably developed beach town on the coast of Kenya, located south of the main coastal city of Mombasa.

The beach spans approximately 16km and is characterized by its pristine white sand, which is not particularly busy except on Sundays.

Diani Beach is known as a kite surfer and diving paradise, featuring a protective reef located approximately 2km from the shore. The area boasts ten kite schools and two PADI dive centers, along with our own beach center. Kite season typically runs from January to March and June to September.

In addition to the beach, the town offers three coffee shops and over 70 restaurants, bars, and a few nightclubs, providing a full range of options from local to upmarket.

Within the local area, day trip opportunities include boat excursions to the local national marine park, visits to the Shimba Hills Elephant Sanctuary and Wildlife Park, cycling and off-road motorcycle tours, as well as safaris in the larger national parks where you stand the chance to see all of the 'big five', if you're lucky.

  • All residents have a bedroom which has curtains that completely cover the windows as well as an ensuite bathroom for full privacy.

    Residents are to share the furnished common areas respectfully.

  • Our rooms can have up to two people sharing a double bed.
  • Yes, each room has a desk and office chair. In addition, you can work from the coworking space, restaurant, by the pool or anywhere else on the property that takes your fancy.
  • Most of our guests are solo travellers and nomads. The majority of stays are 1-3 months with occasional shorter stay guests. This helps form good communities and most of our previous guests are still in touch with each other.
  • Policies
  • Children are not permitted in the coliving area, however, they are welcome in the restaurant.
  • Unfortunately, smoking is not allowed inside.
  • Quiet hours should be from 2200HRS to 0700HRS.
  • We have an honest bar.

  • Rooms are cleaned weekly on a designated day. We put up a poll and everyone can choose on the best time for them (first come first serve).
  • We have a normal modern washing machine on site.
  • Regrettably, we do not offer this service. The best option from Mombasa is to use Uber.

    If you are flying into JKIA in Nairobi, you can take a JamboJet flight or Safarilink from Wilson, which is the downtown airport in Nairobi. Please note that these are local airlines and are not listed on Skyscanner, etc.

  • Yes, there is WiFi everywhere on the property.
  • Once you ensure that all sanitary items and any larger items (e.g. pizza boxes, etc.) are cleared, there's nothing else to do.

  • Generally, we have had between 4-8 people staying with us. When we're a little lighter on guests we try to organize trips to make sure nobody feels isolated.
  • Duncan is the manager and he's usually around we also have a 'Head of Fun' who organises local trips and excursions.
  • Our guests come from every corner of the globe, bringing diverse cultures, stories, and experiences to our doorstep!
  • Safety
  • Yes, the area where we are based is safe. During the day, it's fine for both males and females to walk anywhere in Diani alone.

    At night, the area in front of our compound, where there are some bars and a pool table, is also safe. If you are going further afield, we would recommend taking a tuktuk or a boda (motorbike taxi).
  • We have a permiter wall with razor wire, 24x7 security who patrol and CCTV covering the shared areas, entrance etc.
  • Yes, all the rooms have locks and our entrance is electronically logged.
  • Nearby
  • Diani airport is 4 minutes away. Mombasa is 40mins to 2 hours depending on the time of day. A new expressway is expected to open this year which will ease the travel time once already opened.
  • Kitesurfing and diving are popular during the season, while sports fishing is also an option. Additionally, there are numerous day trips to local attractions such as the national marine park for dolphin spotting and reef snorkeling. Other activities include visits to safari parks and reserves, off-road bike/motorbike riding, and scenic walks in the hills.
  • There are quite a few restaurants in Diani, around 75 according to TripAdvisor, offering a wide range of cuisines from local to international.
  • The most common modes of transportation are tuktuks or bodas (motorbike taxis), which are readily available and very affordable at around $1-$2. We also offer push bikes onsite, and you can also rent scooters/motorbikes or cars for your trips.
