About Lifex
Saying that we aim to solve the three biggest challenges that new arrivals to Copenhagen face;
Finding housing- As I said, Copenhagen has an affordable housing crisis right now and it is extremely hard to break into the housing market here. Even if one does manage to find housing it is extremely expensive and it is common to be asked for 3 months' rent upfront and also a deposit of 3 months on top of that. We fix that by offering a completely flexible month to month access. People have to stay for a minimum of one month and can stay as long as they like. We limit the number of short-term rentals because it's not ideal for the community- we don't want people coming and going and disturbing the already established community.
Community- Moving to a new country is lonely, you pick up and leave your network behind. Many of our members have actually never been to Copenhagen before so they are starting entirely from scratch. With LifeX they land with a network and an already established community of people who are in a similar situation. We hold Sunday dinners, Game of Thrones night, game nights and bike rides around the city. We are not about forcing interaction with our members, so nothing is mandatory, but we do set up these events as a routine touchpoint between members. So far, it has been great! Especially the Sunday dinners which we do in a potluck style- everyone coming has to bring something.
Services- We aim to reduce the stress of moving as much as possible so people can focus on their new job and exploring awesome Copenhagen. We offer a Quick Start package that gets you set up with all of your registrations and practicals and visa/work permit processing. We are really trying to provide an entire end to end service so people can land in Copenhagen in the best possible way and have a great first experience.
Our members
We currently have 15 members, spread across 2 apartments in central Copenhagen. Our third apartment is on its way and with that filled we will have 25 members. Our members so far have been mostly within the tech and from all over the world. We have people from the US, Brazil, Romania, UK, Serbia, Sweden, Denmark and more. We also have a good mix of people in terms of how they use LifeX; some have used us as a landing pad that they then jump off to find their own place and others have joined us because they love the idea of co-living and want to be with us long term. We have actually had someone say that they will only be with us until they find their own apartment because his wife was joining him soon in Copenhagen and he liked it so much that now they are both living with us.

Dealt with my case with discretion and professionalism, and I wanted to share it, along with my thanks and my regards!
Dear LifeX Team,
I am writing to formally submit a comprehensive complaint regarding my living experience over the past five months in a LifeX-managed shared apartment in Oslo during my Erasmus stay. Unfortunately, multiple recurring issues significantly affected the quality of accommodation and did not meet the standards communicated in the contract or advertised by LifeX.
Maintenance requests were handled very slowly and, in many cases, addressed only through temporary or inadequate solutions rather than proper repairs. For example, a leaking pipe was provisionally wrapped with a towel instead of being fixed sustainably, which did not resolve the issue and led to recurring problems. Such temporary measures are not appropriate for long-term housing and caused ongoing inconvenience.
The biweekly “professional cleaning” proved largely ineffective. Rather than improving cleanliness, it encouraged the attitude within the shared apartment that no additional cleaning was necessary between visits. In practice, the quality of cleaning was insufficient and could likely have been achieved to a higher standard by the tenants themselves.
It would therefore be more reasonable either to provide adequate cleaning materials so tenants can clean regularly on their own, or to reduce the rent and allow tenants to purchase cleaning supplies independently. Additionally, the professional cleaning should focus more on typical shared-apartment problem areas such as ovens, cupboard interiors, and other heavily used shared spaces. Since most tenants stay only for a limited period (e.g. five months), there is often little incentive to perform deep cleaning, which results in dirt accumulating precisely in these common areas.
Moreover, the cleaning after a tenant’s move-out was inadequate. Given the very limited time spent by the cleaning staff—apparently focused mainly on taking photos for the move-out inspection—it cannot be expected that rooms are left in a properly cleaned condition. As a result, new tenants had to thoroughly clean the apartment themselves upon moving in.
Household items that were contractually promised to be refilled by the landlord were never replenished during my stay. This represents a clear discrepancy between the agreed terms and the service provided. In this regard as well, a rent reduction would have been appropriate.
During the winter months, the apartment became unacceptably cold. The shared living area could not be adequately heated, primarily because the installed radiator was far too small for the size of the room. In addition, cold air entered continuously through non-airtight windows. Even with the heating set to 30°C, the room did not reach a comfortable temperature.
As a result, the ventilation practices recommended in the LifeX app became unrealistic, as opening the windows would further reduce the indoor temperature and worsen the living conditions. The same issues applied to the private rooms. In my case, the radiator was placed directly behind the bed, which is highly impractical, as it prevented proper air circulation and further reduced heating efficiency. Additionally, my bedroom window was also not airtight, allowing cold air to enter continuously.
Finally, there was no structured onboarding process for new tenants. If none of the existing flatmates feels responsible for explaining how daily routines, responsibilities, and organizational processes work, it becomes very difficult to gain an overview. As a tenant—especially when moving to a new country—one is largely left to figure everything out independently.
Considering the premium pricing of LifeX accommodations, I find that the overall level of maintenance, comfort, and management did not sufficiently correspond to what was promised. I am submitting this complaint both as formal feedback and in the hope that these issues will be addressed and prevented for future tenants.
I would appreciate confirmation that this complaint has been received and information on how LifeX intends to respond to or improve upon the points raised above.
Kind regards,
Angelina Herzog
I have had a pretty good experience so far.
I have really liked this place to live for a month. The location is excellent, and all the facilities are of very good quality. Whenever there has been a problem, the team has worked to resolve it as quickly as possible. The people I have shared the apartment with have generally been nice, but I suggest choosing housemates based on certain criteria to help maintain a positive atmosphere. Lastly, I would have appreciated more organized activities for everyone in the coliving space. Overall, it has been a great experience.
Good location and very chill neighborhood
This is a serious rental company; they provide extensive support over email and their app, and they send a rental contract straight away. Only after the contract is signed do they request payment. The communication over HousingAnywhere could be improved. After I proceeded with the booking, they stopped replying, and I had to reach them through my own means. Everything was fine, but that inconvenience could have been avoided. The property is okay, expensive but functional to land in Berlin.
Super quick to respond, always kind, and incredibly helpful!
It's overwhelming to move from abroad; you're doing a lot of paperwork. I'm really glad that made the rental thing smooth and easy. The all-inclusive pays and all documents were shared quickly so I could do the Anmeldung and other stuff. The team has been super helpful during this process. Thank you so much!
As soon as I entered, I already felt at home, clean and perfectly organized.
Heartwarming solution to the housing problems of Greater Copenhagen.
A super solution to the growing housing issues in Greater Copenhagen.
My daughter lives just a couple of minutes from your office and asked if I knew about your company.
Your solution resembles the structure of previous years' collectives but is much more flexible, as it brings together people with housing needs in an orderly manner and with a higher standard than the old collectives.
The future can expect a growing trend, as many older residents are forced to move away from the capital due to closed parking spaces.
This is also a problem for many young people, for example, my daughter, whose partner has a round-the-clock job and therefore needs to move out of the city because it takes half an hour or longer to walk to the car EVEN THOUGH he pays parking fees to the MUNICIPALITY WHERE THEY LIVE.
It will be difficult for her to pay rent alone.
Similarly, perhaps you could also look at empty shops that, after renovation, could also be used for housing instead of standing empty.
Empty shops are expected to become a bigger and bigger problem as it is often hard for many to carry their goods home.
So people are seeking to shop outside the city.
Then people move away from the big city, SO YOU HAVE A GREAT FUTURE AHEAD.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR FORESIGHT AND FLEXIBILITY.
I wish I had known about you, as I have already moved away from the big city.
It was with great sorrow as I grew up in Frederiksberg.
P.S. I do not know what kind of people are in the process of destroying our old city culture, which has been built up over so many generations.
P.P.S. You should not confuse this service with Airbnb, as it concerns long-term residence where people are integrated into the community.
